The Porch is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience and apply relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance goal and current status
Our current accessibility target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, which also includes the WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA requirements. The site has also been reviewed against applicable WCAG 2.1 Level AAA criteria; however, we do not claim site-wide Level AAA conformance. The W3C does not recommend requiring Level AAA conformance as a general policy for entire websites because some Level AAA criteria cannot be satisfied for all content.
Following an accessibility review on September 1, 2026, we remediated identified issues across the site and completed automated and manual validation. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and conformance can be affected by future content changes, third-party services, browser or assistive-technology differences, and human error.
Accessibility measures
The Porch has implemented measures that include:
- consistent page landmarks, a skip link, and descriptive page headings;
- keyboard-operable navigation, forms, tabs, menus, and interactive controls;
- visible keyboard focus indicators and reduced-motion support;
- improved color contrast, text resizing, and responsive reflow at narrow widths;
- programmatic form labels, input purposes, status messages, and error announcements;
- meaningful image alternatives and descriptive names for linked images and social-media links;
- titles for embedded maps and descriptive text for the homepage promotional video;
- a complete Accessible Menus page containing text equivalents for the image-based food, drink, brunch, and seasonal menus; and
- an accessibility control that can be opened with the keyboard shortcut Alt+A.
Compatibility and technical specifications
The site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and common assistive technologies, including keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, screen magnifiers, and screen readers. Accessibility depends on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA, and the accessibility APIs provided by the visitor’s operating system and browser.
Assessment approach
We assess accessibility through a combination of site-wide automated testing, source and rendered-DOM inspection, keyboard testing, focus-order review, mobile and 320-pixel reflow testing, contrast calculations, form and media review, and manual evaluation of criteria that automated tools cannot determine.
Third-party content
Some functions, including online ordering and external social platforms, are provided by third parties that The Porch does not fully control. We encourage those providers to maintain accessible services. If a third-party service creates a barrier, contact us and we will work with you to provide the information or service through an alternative method.
